At all levels of organization, biological structures are shaped by natural selection to maximize their ability to perform their fuctions.  Having this principle in mind, we have organized this site so that links for a particular "function" are listed under the corresponding "structure".  For example, "endocytosis" links are in the Plasma Membrane page and "mitosis" links are in the Nucleus page. This organization is very similar to a standard Cell Biology text book, and we think it is most appropiate for a web site dealing with Cell Biology.

This structure of the site also means that under a particular "function", you will find diverse links, from database home pages, to quicktime movies and other course material. Text in italics briefly describes a structure or a function. At the end of each page, there are links to some research labs that work on the "functions" mentioned on the page. The table of contents for the whole site appears in the left column. Topics within the active page will appear at the top of the table of contents while the link to return to this page will be at the bottom. Visited links will show up in red.

This site is meant to be a representative list of links on Cell Biology on the WWW. The links were collected and annotated by graduate and undergraduate students having their peers as the target audience. Some topics do not have any links yet. To submit a link please email us at mrimer@nmsu.edu
